Empowering physiotherapists: The Move-e project revolutionising musculoskeletal disorder care

In the dynamic healthcare landscape, physiotherapists’ role in addressing musculoskeletal disorders goes beyond physical treatment. Recognising this, the Mov-e project will showcase innovation and empowerment, aiming to equip physiotherapists, students, and educators with comprehensive resources for professional development and patient care.
The Move-e project represents a paradigm shift in physiotherapy education. It emphasises technical proficiency, holistic patient care, and intercultural competency by empowering physiotherapists with the knowledge, skills, and sensitivity needed to navigate diverse patient populations and cultural contexts.

Make European quality assurance systems more agile and roll out a new approach for alliances

A feasibility study carried out in 2023 showed that the European quality assurance framework has generally proven successful, but is sometimes viewed as costly and burdensome by institutions, especially in the context of trans-national cooperation.
In response, the higher education package features a proposal for a Council Recommendation on a European quality assurance and recognition system, set to replace and update the existing Council Recommendation on cooperation in quality assurance that dates back to 2006.
The key innovation put forward is an alliance-wide external evaluation for consortia of higher education institutions, such as those emerging from the European Universities initiative or other forms of very close and stable cooperation. Existing alliances not only collaborate extensively in creating joint programmes or micro-credentials, but many also strive to create joint internal quality assurance arrangements for their joint education provision accordingly.

European degrees: Up-to-date joint programmes with a strong mobility component

A European degree offers students the opportunity to study across EU countries and benefit from a student-centred learning experience that includes skills vital for navigating the green and digital transition. Rooted in the recognition that existing regulations often hinder cross-border collaboration, the European degree initiative also seeks to dismantle obstacles that institutions currently face when setting up joint programmes.
The proposal for a European degree aims to encourage the development of study programmes that are highly attractive to students and relevant to the labour market, and at the same time to cut red tape for institutions. The proposal is accompanied by new recommendations to further develop the European quality assurance and recognition system – these will be the focus of the next weeks.

Revolutionizing skill matching: The story behind Skill Finder

Skill Finder is a free online open-source tool which we have developed as part of the LCAMP project, to support the collaboration and communication of needs between employers, employees, training providers, and learners within advanced manufacturing. One of the main issues encountered was the lack of a common vocabulary to express the skills needs on one side and the upskilling/reskilling offers on the other. While the ESCO framework already offers a comprehensive vocabulary, partners, and participants within LCAMP reported difficulties in the use of the framework, often finding the search for appropriate skills too time-consuming. We wanted to make use of ESCO’s comprehensive framework while reducing the time needed for the user to search through the framework. Our Skill Finder tool allows users to input titles or descriptions of learning outcomes, courses, or job profiles in their own words and in any of the 27 supported languages, and instantly receive related ESCO skill descriptions. The Skill Finder boasts a database of over 13,000 ESCO skills, resulting in accurate and efficient matching of skills across various sectors and industries.
