This report provides recommendations for higher education leaders to implement European Digital Credentials (EDCs) based on lessons from the MicroCredX project. EDCs are multilingual, electronically sealed digital credentials that can represent degrees, micro-credentials, or certificates. Built on the European Learning Model (ELM), they enable cross-border recognition using semantic standards in 29 languages. Key recommendations include securing institutional buy-in through strategic consultation, adapting business canvas models for implementation planning, prioritizing in-house EDC issuing for short-term projects while focusing on external recognition for longer-term initiatives, and establishing regular strategic discussions with SMART metrics for progress evaluation.
