Revolutionising skill matching with LCAMP’s Skill Finder tool

KIC, through the LCAMP project, has made a big step toward advanced manufacturing and skill alignment. It developed the Skill Finder tool for Manufacturing. This platform connects employers and educational institutions. It standardises skills in the value-added manufacturing sector. This tool, led by KIC as the Work Package Leader for the Advanced Manufacturing Excellence Discovery Platform, aims to help employers define job requirements. It also seeks to help educational institutions align their curricula with industry demands.

The Skill Finder tool has already seen widespread use and engagement across the global learning and industry communities, having been used over 14,000 times to match skills effectively. This milestone shows the tool’s importance in linking employers with talent. It matches specific skills through a fast, efficient process that reduces mismatches in job placements.

To further acquaint stakeholders with Skill Finder, KIC hosted webinars across Africa. They presented the Skill Finder in the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF). Each session drew about 50 attendees:

  • Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo held on 18 June 2024,
  • Luanda, Angola held on 6 September 2024,
  • Nairobi, Kenya held on 4 October 2024.

The webinars gave attendees insights into using Skill Finder. It helps match skills to job roles more accurately. They showcased its compatibility with ESCO skill classifications. They outlined its impact on regional workforce development. The sessions also emphasised the tool’s role in empowering schools and training centres. It helps them align their offerings with industry needs. This gives a strategic edge in today’s competitive job market.

Skill Finder is part of LCAMP’s commitment to improve manufacturing excellence. It aims to create a learner-centric platform that tackles modern workforce challenges. This initiative shows the LCAMP consortium’s work together. It aims for innovation, standardisation, and integrating skills into manufacturing sector.
