Updates on the Mov-e project: Advancing online physiotherapy education

KIC is pleased to share the progress on the Mov-e project, an initiative focused on improving online physiotherapy education through accessible, multilingual resources. This project is designed to equip students and practitioners with the skills they need to meet the demands of an increasingly diverse healthcare environment with an emphasis on intercultural and communicational diversity.

The Mov-e project aims to create a 15-hour, open-access course that blends techniques for musculoskeletal dysfunction with patient communication skills. By emphasising the value of patient-centred care and giving them the tools to do this, we aim to empower future physiotherapists, students, teachers, and healthcare workers.

Another aim of the Mov-e project is to serve as a model for future courses in physiotherapy. By creating a blueprint that broadens online educational options, this project seeks to expand the resources available for physiotherapy training and professional development, encouraging similar initiatives in the future.

We also strongly focus on preparing students and professionals to meet the diverse needs of patient groups. This focus ensures that practitioners can deliver well-rounded and effective care that considers each patient’s unique context and background.

Finally, we are committed to expanding international opportunities by offering courses in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Finnish, Hungarian, Turkish, and Polish. This multilingual approach makes the course accessible to a global audience of students and professionals, helping to break down language barriers and extend learning opportunities worldwide. As we move forward, the Mov-e project has reached several important milestones that support our goal of creating accessible and effective online physiotherapy education. These achievements reflect the ongoing work to finalise and refine course materials, making them accessible across multiple languages and formats. Key developments so far include:

  • Course completion and review: The English version of the course is complete, and we are currently conducting a detailed review to ensure quality. Translation into five additional languages is also complete.
  • Supplementary e-Manual: An e-Manual covering each of the 15 modules is in development to support students’ learning and comprehension. This manual will be available as a valuable resource alongside the course.
  • AI-translated videos: Course videos have been translated using AI, enabling students to engage with the material in their native language and furthering accessibility.
  • Upcoming testing phase: In mid-November and December, we will pilot the course with an initial group of international students, gathering feedback to refine the experience.

As part of this initiative, KIC has taken on a central role in developing the course platform, managing the translation and editing of videos, and overseeing project branding and visual identity. This involvement challenges us to explore new tools and methods, making this journey both demanding and highly rewarding. Collaborating with an exceptional international team has been a privilege, enriching the project and its outcomes.

This project is an important step forward for physiotherapy education, giving practitioners the skills they need to succeed in today’s global healthcare landscape. By focusing on practical skills and cultural awareness, the Mov-e project is helping future physiotherapists provide well-rounded, sensitive care that meets diverse patient needs.

KIC is fortunate to work with such dedicated partners and enjoys each step of this collaboration. We look forward to the possibility of future projects together, building on the strong foundations we have created through the Mov-e project.
