Project description
Higher education institutions across Europe struggle to recognise and certify the 21st-century competencies students develop alongside their formal studies. CREDIPILLS addresses this gap by developing a structured micro-credentialing system built around short, intensive learning modules — “Skills Pills” — that allow students to progressively acquire and validate transversal and sector-specific competencies in small, stackable steps.
The project produces a taxonomy of 21st-century learning outcomes, a library of 60 digital Pills delivered via Moodle, competency pathways tailored to labour market needs, and a Playbook for institutional adoption. All credentials are issued through the Europass platform, aligned with EQF, ECTS, and ISO 17024 standards.
KIC role
KIC is developing the Credpills Guide — a best-practice resource for higher education institutions on integrating micro-credentials into curricula — and leads the project’s dissemination, coordinating communications, capacity-building events, policy endorsements, and community engagement across Europe.
